Cindy Crawford - Shape Your Body Workout

Amazon.com

At a time when we know so much about choosing safe, effective exercises, reissuing Cindy Crawford’s 1992 best-selling disaster, Shape Your Body, is inexcusable. Swimsuit-clad Cindy puts herself through flings and gyrations that show off her body but aren’t any good for anyone else’s. She presents one after another of the exercises that fitness professionals threw out of their routines two decades ago because they’re ineffective and risky to back and joints. Her alignment is awful; her control nonexistent. She rounds her back and flings her leg into high kicks. She does squats letting her knees go way past her toes. Even when the exercises are decently chosen and performed, she does them much too quickly, relying on momentum instead of muscle power, such as two-second bent-over rows. Trainer Radu, who designed and coached this workout, should be sentenced to an eternity of fast donkey kicks, leg swings, and trunk circles. This “toning” video wo (more…)

How the Body Shapes the Mind

Review

“Indeed, many researchers will wish they had had this volume before publishing their own work, not because it presents startling new findings that will undermine what has come before, but because the work is so precise, and lays out the terrain so clearly, that it is now possible to see what should have been said all along.”–Philosophical Psychology

How the Body Shapes the Mind is an interdisciplinary work that addresses philosophical questions by appealing to evidence found in experimental psychology, neuroscience, studies of pathologies, and developmental psychology. There is a growing consensus across these disciplines that the contribution of embodiment to cognition is inescapable. Because this insight has been developed across a variety of disciplines, however, there is still a need to develop a common vocabulary that is capable of integrating discussions of brain mechanisms in neuroscience, behavioral expressions in psychology, design concerns i (more…)

The Better Memory Kit

Product Description

“THIS BOOK REFERENCES A CD AND OTHER MATERIALS WHICH ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE KINDLE EDITION. The Better Memory Kit encompasses an innovative, clinically proven medical program to prevent and reverse all types of memory loss, including Alzheimer’s disease. It’s based on over a decade of research and clinical experience by Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D., the original voice of the prevention of memory loss. The focus of the kit is an integrative medical program featuring the four pillars of a better memory: a 20 percent “”right fat”" diet; stress relief via memory-enhancing meditations; special physical, mental, and mind/body exercises to boost memory; and pharmaceutical medicines, proven to delay the onset of Alzheimer?s by six years. The Better Memory Kit is invaluable, because as the baby boomers age, the incidence of Alzheimer’s is predicted to surge by 400 percent if a preventive and early reversal program is not adopted by the general public.
